If you are someone who wants to make sure that you prepare for anything that might happen in the future, you might consider yourself a bit of a survivalist. Even though you might want to prep for any emergency situations that might pop up later, you probably don't want to waste money when doing so. Luckily, there are things that you can buy to help you be prepared for future emergencies but that you can use regularly now so that you won't waste money. These are a few things to add to your list.

1. Satellite Phone

For one thing, you're probably going to want to be able to communicate with others in the event that the regular cell phone towers go down in an emergency situation. One good idea is to invest in a satellite phone. This can still be used even when a regular cell phone cannot be used, making it a great buy for your survivalist prepping. However, you can use it as a part of your regular life right now as well; for example, it can serve as a spare phone in case your regular cell phone doesn't work properly, or you can bring it along with you when you go camping, fishing, or otherwise having fun in an area where you might not get the best cell phone reception.

2. Camping Gear

Stores that specialize in selling camping gear often sell all sorts of items that can be used in an emergency situation, such as camping stoves, lanterns, air mattresses, tents, and more. If you're into spending time outdoors, you should consider slowly accumulating different types of camping gear so that you can have fun on camping trips and other outdoor excursions. However, if something does happen, you'll probably be able to use a lot of this stuff in an emergency situation as well.

3. Non-Perishable Food

Lastly, as you probably already know, having a nice stockpile of non-perishable food on hand is smart for emergency situations. However, you probably don't want to buy a ton of food just to throw it away later if you don't need it. Instead, consider buying non-perishable food that you and your family members actually like. Then, you can eat the food before it expires and slowly add in new items to help replace what you've eaten. Then, you'll always have plenty of groceries on hand, whether it's a regular day or a serious emergency.

As you can see, you do not have to waste money in order to purchase things to be prepared for emergency situations. Instead, consider buying the three things on this list. They can all be useful in emergency situations, but as you can see, you can make use of them in your day-to-day life to avoid wasted cash as well.
